Taylor Swift has once again etched her name in the annals of music history, becoming the first female artist to surpass the impressive milestone of 100 billion streams on Spotify. This groundbreaking achievement was confirmed on Tuesday by Kworb.
The Swifties, as their devoted fan base is known, wasted no time flooding social media with celebratory messages. One fan was amazed: “100 billion streams? Taylor really is in a league of her own”. Another ecstatic supporter declared: “Taylor Swift isn’t just breaking records – she’s rewriting the music industry. 100 billion streams is legendary status”.
This milestone is just the latest in a series of record-breaking moments for Swift. Following the release of her highly anticipated album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, 2024, she achieved the title of most streamed artist in a single day in Spotify’s history. The album itself made waves on all platforms, also securing the record for the most streamed album on Apple Music.
The Tortured Poets Department features 16 tracks and an exclusive bonus song, Fortnight, which features a collaboration with American singer and rapper Post Malone. The music video for Fortnight premiered on April 19, further extending the success of the album.
In addition to her latest project, Swift’s extensive discography continues to dominate the streaming charts. Songs such as Cruel Summer, Anti-Hero and Blank Space have amassed millions of streams, while her re-recorded albums, including 1989 (Taylor’s Version), have set their own records – most notably, breaking Spotify’s single-day album streaming record with over 300 million streams. Their most played tracks include I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, Lover, Shake It Off, Cardigan, August, Style and Don’t Blame Me.
Adding to her unparalleled legacy, Swift’s Eras Tour – her sixth concert tour – kicked off on March 17, 2023, with a staggering 149 shows around the world. The tour culminated on December 8, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada, after more than a year of performances. With ticket sales in excess of 2 billion dollars, The Eras Tour is one of the most commercially successful tours in history, further consolidating Taylor Swift’s dominance in the music industry.
