ATEEZ conquers the top of the Billboard 200 with new album
K-pop group ATEEZ added their second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with GOLDEN HOUR: Part.2.
The album debuts at the top of the list with 184,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending November 21, according to Luminate. With an opening frame driven largely by album sales, 179,000 copies sold, the album marks the best week so far for the group, both in units won and traditional album sales, according to Billboard.
It’s worth remembering that they already topped the charts with THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL in 2023. In total, GOLDEN HOUR: Part.2 is the group’s sixth top 10, all consecutive.
This week K-pop artists ATEEZ, Jin and ENHYPEN are ranked 1st, 4th and 7th respectively on the Billboard 200, there are three K-pop albums in the top 10 for the first time.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums in the U.S. based on multimetric consumption measured in album equivalent units, compiled by Luminate.
According to the publication, as GOLDEN HOUR: Part.2 is primarily in the Korean language, it is the 26th mostly non-English language album to reach number one, and the third of 2024.
Two other mostly Korean-language albums topped the charts earlier this year. In the August 3 list, Stray Kids’ ATE became the group’s fifth leader, and in the March 9 ranking, TWICE’s With YOU-th became the group’s first leader.
Of the 26 mostly non-English albums that reached number one, 17 are in Korean, five in Spanish, one in Italian, one entirely in French and two that are mostly a mix of Spanish, Italian and French. Of the 26 albums, it is worth remembering that 22 have topped the charts since 2018.
