Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars reach unprecedented milestone on Spotify with the duet “Die With a Smile”, featured on the album “Mayhem”.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have broken another Spotify record with their duet “Die With a Smile.” The song, released in August 2024, has spent 170 days at No. 1 on the platform’s global charts. It’s the first song in history to spend 170 days at No. 1, and it’s also the song that has spent the longest at the top of the charts, of course.
“Die With a Smile” won the Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group, and has been certified multiple platinum worldwide: 4x platinum in Australia, Canada and Portugal, 3x platinum in New Zealand, and 2x platinum in Poland and Spain. The track has also been certified diamond in France. On Spotify alone, the song has been streamed 2.2 billion times.
In the United States, although it has not yet been certified, “Die With a Smile” spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. In this week’s update, it remained in 2nd place, very strong. It is a steady hit. Gaga included it as the closing track of her latest album, “Mayhem”.
“‘Die With a Smile’ is a huge part of the record. It was like the missing piece. The album is full of my love for music — so many different genres, so many different styles, so many different dreams. It moves between genres in an almost corrupt way. And it ends with love. That’s the answer to all the chaos in my life: I find peace in love,” says Gaga.
The success of “Die With a Smile” has catapulted Bruno Mars to the top spot on Spotify, becoming the first artist in history to surpass 140 million monthly listeners on the streaming service. Lady Gaga has climbed to second place as the most listened to woman in the world on the platform, with 114 million monthly listeners currently.
