J-Hope, a member of the K-pop group BTS, is having a great time in his solo career! The rapper is currently promoting some recent releases; in addition to performing a series of shows on the “Hope on the Stage” world tour.
The events promote the South Korean artist’s first solo album, “Jack in the Box”, and the EP “Hope on the Street Vol. 1”. For now, the tour is limited to South Korea, the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Macau and Taiwan; there are no dates scheduled for countries in South America.
J-Hope is also releasing a series of new singles. In February, he participated in the track “LV Bag”, with Don Toliver and Pharrell Williams. The following month, he released the original track “Sweet Dreams”, in partnership with Miguel; and, later, he shared the song “MONA LISA”.
In an interview with the American magazine Los Angeles Times, the BTS member reflected on the current moment of his career. While the entire group has not completed their military enlistment – the band’s return is scheduled for June – the rapper and dancer is taking advantage of the moment to build on his achievements as a soloist. “I feel like, right now, my life is filled with great anticipation and excitement for what’s to come,” he commented.
During the conversation, the artist spoke about the themes of his new songs – which present a more mature atmosphere. “I didn’t really have that in mind while I was making these songs, but I wanted to make a song that expressed my maturity after my military service,” he revealed. “So, it kind of came naturally. I wanted to show another visual side of me as J-Hope and I want to show something new, a new facet of me to my fans.”
Additionally, J-Hope spoke about his achievements on stage. He recently became the first Korean soloist to sell out a stadium show in the United States, achieving the feat at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
“I wanted to show something incredible to the fans who have been waiting for so long, and I wanted to connect on a very personal level through these shows and performances,” he said of his current performances. He also commented on his interactions with fans at the events: “Instead of being on stage at a level above the audience, I wanted to really connect with my fans, interacting directly with them and seeing them face to face. That connection with them has been incredibly meaningful.”
The artist also took advantage of the interview to thank the audience for their support. “As time goes by, I am even more grateful to see more and more people listening to and enjoying my music. I feel like it is their support and passion that allows me to be the artist I am today,” he said.
