This Friday (11), Jennie teamed up with DJ and producer Peggy Gou for a new remix of Like Jennie, a track from her solo album, Ruby.
According to her agency Odd Atelier, Like Jennie, which was co-written and composed by Jennie, carries the message of staying true to yourself and shining with confidence without sacrificing individuality. With its catchy chorus and powerful choreography, the track has become a global hit.
It is worth noting that Peggy Gou is a pioneer of Korean electronic music who has performed at major global music festivals, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the US, Glastonbury in the UK, Primavera Sound in Spain, and Fuji Rock in Japan.
Since its release, Like Jennie has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. Ruby reached number 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the US. In its first week, the album sold more than 1 million copies worldwide.
It is worth remembering that Jennie will perform at Coachella in Indio, California, over the next two weekends, on Sunday and April 20.
Jennie talks about her solo album and partnership with Dua Lipa
Singer Jennie, from the K-Pop group Blackpink, spoke to Billboard magazine about her new solo album, Ruby.
It is worth remembering that the album, which is entirely in English and arrived on March 7, was preceded by the singles Mantra; Love Hangover, with Dominic Fike; and ExtraL, with Doechii. It is worth mentioning that artists Dua Lipa, Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis also participate in the project.
‘I’m reintroducing myself to the world with this album. I’m putting myself out there like it’s the first time, that’s the commitment I told myself. So I don’t think it changes much for me,’ she revealed.
‘There’s a song that speaks to me in that sense, called ‘Starlight’, and I think it’s a beautifully written song about how I’ve been feeling during this whole time. It’s a personal song,’ she said.
‘I’ve known Dua for a long time. I went to her first concert in Korea. We’re good friends already, [but] it was the first time we’ve done a song together. That in itself was a new experience for us, seeing each other in a different light, and we just had a lot of fun,’ she said about collaborating with Dua Lipa.
