This Friday (14), K-pop girl group Le Sserafim released their fifth Hot EP on digital platforms.
According to the Korea Herald, this new album marks the last installment of a trilogy following the group’s third and fourth mini-albums Easy and Crazy, released in 2024.
“We have finally reached the last chapter of our trilogy — ‘Easy’, ‘Crazy’ and now ‘Hot’. We prepared this album based on the lessons we learned from all the experiences we had last year. We will give our all to these promotions as well,” Huh Yunjin said during a press conference.
It is worth noting that the album features five tracks, including the title track Hot, a pop song with elements of rock and disco, as well as Born Fire, which stands out with its narration in Korean, English and Japanese. Another track, So Cynical, co-written by Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, and Hong Eunchae, encourages listeners to fearlessly dive into love.
“It’s a song about burning everything for what you love. It’s also the first time we’ve done a love song as the title track, which makes it special.” “When I first heard this song, I imagined driving with a cool breeze hitting my face. It’s powerful but sentimental, which I think suits our team well.”, Kazuha explained.
“Being involved in the title track was an honor, and I wanted to give it my all. I was especially curious about how it would sound when the members sang it, so that was my biggest focus while working on it,” recalled Yunjin.
Youngest member Hong Eunchae shared her connection to the album, saying, “The new album is special to me because I turned 20 and prepared it with a new beginning in mind.” He added: “We’ve taken on a lot of new genres on this album, so please look forward to it.”
After the album’s release, they are ready to embark on their first world tour, “Easy Crazy Hot”. The tour will kick off April 19-20 at Incheon’s Inspire Arena and take them to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and more. “We want people to say, ‘Le Sserafim is a group you have to see on stage.’ Many fans have been waiting for this world tour, so we will put on a flawless performance,” said Kazuha.
According to Billboard, singers Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae manage to maintain their icy postures while a violin plays in the background, until their statuesque reverie is unexpectedly broken by an adorable gray cat with small wings. The sound of the animal’s meow triggers a clap of hands and a dilation of the girls’ eyes, bringing them to life as they appear to melt into the floor as a temperature gauge rises from cold to hot.
According to the publication, a ghostly soundtrack bubbles and the members come to life, interacting with a ready-to-use kitchen faucet similar to Marcel Duchamp’s titled “Purity is the Hottest,” which, when turned on and allowed to flow onto the floor, electrocutes the feline, transforming the sterile space into a pulsating nightclub.
It is worth remembering that Hot is the continuation of the group’s fourth mini-album from 2024, Crazy.
It is worth noting that Le Sserafim has explored the members’ thoughts and emotions in their music since their debut album, Fearless, which was released in 2022, connecting with listeners.
